2/28/2014 0 Comments Okanagan Farms signAt the Calgary Farmers Market, all Vendors have an address or street type of sign with the business name on it. I made this one: After a nice clear coat and building a mounting bracket, this will be hanging under the large Okanagan Farms signs I made almost 2 months ago.

2/26/2014 0 Comments The Bed is finished!2/24/2014 0 Comments Doh!Hey everyone.. So this morning I got to work and was planning to use my gopro for the ski trip. Not thinking that I already had time lapse footage of my cutting boards and the finishing process, I formatted the memory card and went about my day. On my ride home afterwards, I realized what I had did and was fairly perturbed with myself for the rest of the trip. Doh!! Looks like I'll need some more cutting board orders to re-shoot that material. Anyone interested in ordering a custom cutting board? Haha. 2/23/2014 0 Comments Circular Cutting boardI made this board as an experiment to see how patterns are made. I'm learning more and more with each board I finish! This board is predominantly walnut and maple! It used up the last bit of scraps I had lying around the shop. I think this one turned out very well. I'll have a video of the process with this board on my Facebook page watch for it soon! 2/21/2014 0 Comments Updates! Finally!Back in the shop finally with some project updates! A bowl, a funky cutting board progresses and the bed/bar is prepped for some stain/polyurethane tomorrow! Lots of stuff is happening! 2/16/2014 0 Comments Post shortage..Hey Everyone! Sorry for the shortage of posts this past week. I've had other stuff going on but will have more posts this time next week hopefully! Thanks for continuing to check out my work! 2/9/2014 1 Comment Barn Wood! Here's the start of a barn wood frame to be hung outside in a garden. This is not the easiest material to work with.. But it's a start! Sorry for the shortage of posts.. It's been very busy. 2/1/2014 2 Comments Back to the imbuya experiment! So I really like how that dried out imbuya experiment turned out! I like it so much in fact that I cut up the remainder of the block I laminated and made 3 more candle stands. I think a set of three together would look pretty impressive on someone's mantel. 2/1/2014 0 Comments It's a plate!Today was a pretty productive day! I got some birch plywood sheets for the base and top of the bed for the drama production. I'm really hoping to have that project finished next week. Afterwards, I've been working to get caught up on other work and then, not surprisingly, I got distracted with an experimental project I started over a month ago with maple and walnut scraps. I've been watching a couple of videos on YouTube about making plates/platters on the lathe with laminated material. The project has linseed oil on it and I may try a spray lacquer after the oil dries. This is very much a decorative project that I think would look good propped up on a nice stand or with some fruit or a large candle on it. Thanks for checking out my work! Okanagan Farms sign project. Lots of work over the winter holidays. I really like the way the signs turned out in the end. You should go check them out at the new Calgary Farmers Market on Blackfoot Trail and Heritage drive in Calgary. Buy some produce and say hi to the staff! |
