3/29/2014 0 Comments Podium frame..This is as far as I got yesterday.. I'm one shelf short and have the material, just needed to get it cut. It was late yesterday and I'll get a fresh start maybe tomorrow.. Before I assemble the podium, I'm going to stain and finish it on all the components first. This is a pretty straight forward build. I'm really liking the cherry plywood!

3/26/2014 0 Comments Podium Sign..I'm building a podium! I started with the logo sign. It's laminated maple with the logo design dremeled out and then painted to give it a unique texture. Linseed oil on the unpainted surface and coated with a few coats of water based varathane. I'm excited to start building the structure soon! More pics to follow. Thanks for looking at my work! 3/25/2014 Carving the Podium Logo Video!I'm now posting some of my work videos to YouTube! I will only imbed videos of my project work on this site. I'm really excited about this change. I hope you like/subscribe and most of all, ENJOY! 3/22/2014 0 Comments Matching End Grain Cutting Boards! My wife and her friend Jill asked me to make them cutting boards so I set out to make a couple of boards that match. Maple with Purple Heart accent. I tried to pull off a chevron type of patter that worked out not too badly. Which is why the lines are a little bumpy looking.. I'll have a video of the finishing process with mineral oil and beeswax on my Facebook page soon! Thanks for looking at my work! 3/15/2014 0 Comments Mitre Box Two!Hey everyone... Here's my second mitre joint box made for the same customer that ordered the first one. See earlier posts to see the first one. She asked me to make another one that she can mount bamboo pieces to and fill with shined black rock to make it a room divider. The customer will paint it to match her living room. I'm glad the more I mitre, the better the joints are looking! 3/9/2014 0 Comments Finally finished and hung up!Finished the sign and installed it at the Calgary Farmers' Market! Go check it out and buy some produce next weekend! 3/9/2014 0 Comments More pirate loot!I built these props for a pirate themed play! Let me know what you think. The X was very simple. The mast and the ship wheel took a little longer but I think turned out great! 3/7/2014 0 Comments Chairty Auction Cutting Board!I started this project almost a month ago and realized that I wanted to have the ability to brand my work and get my name out there to some more potential customers. So I ordered a custom brand and waited to finish this project until I got it. I am very happy with it and hopefully you like it too! This board is made of maple and walnut with a cool checkerboard pattern. This board is going to a charity auction. If it wasn't, it'd definitely be in my kitchen today. Sorry for the short hiatus! Thanks for looking at my work! 3/2/2014 0 Comments Fake crates!I'm working with some students to build some more props for a play. Below is one of three fake crates. The old looking wood is cedar siding boards removed from an old house that was torn down. Paint is on the other side but the cedar looks pretty good if I do say so myself. The cedar will be pulled and thrown away after the play. Good thing the pieces were cheap! |
