We're planning to sell our house sometime soon and I've been annoyed continuously by the massive Costco packaging of AA batteries that has taken up valuable pantry shelf space. So, I went to the shop and built me a fancy battery dispenser out of bamboo hardwood that I had hanging around in the shop! I designed this dispenser roughly in Google Sketchup and then pieced it all together. I differed from the plans a bit by tapering the top and bottom to allow gravity to feed the batteries to the bottom lip. It's finished with boiled linseed oil. I'm really happy with this build. This podium was a lot of design work up front but pretty straight forward to construct! It's made of solids cherry hardwood and cherry plywood. The finish is 4 coats of stain and polyurethane - I really like the color contrast between the cherry and maple logo sign. All that remains to be done is a microphone stand and wheels to move the podium around.. Those parts will come soon.. Have to prepare for my classes. Thanks for checking out my work!
